Spring 2025 Bible Studies & Classes
Sunday Night Bible Study
Taught by Tasha Morwell (Wesley Director) and/or clergy members from around the Southern Illinois region, these Bible studies look at how biblical texts can be applied to our lives today as college students and young adults.
Mindfulness Mondays
Need a regular de-stressing? Looking for a way to let stress melt off of your body and out of your mind? Every other Monday, come to the Wesley Foundation at 12:00pm and/or 4:00pm for a mindfulness practice that will help you reset, recharge, and prepare for the week ahead.
The Breakfast Club
Come see us on Monday mornings every other week at 7:30am at the Wesley Foundation, where students can come and get free coffee and fellowship to make sure everyone is getting the support they need for the coming weeks.
Tuesday Night Dinner & Worship
The Wesley Foundation has dinner and worship every Tuesday evening when students are on campus. The dinner may be pizza, or is may be a home-cooked meal donated by one of our local churches. If you’re interested in providing dinner, please contact us at umwelsey@siu.edu. After dinner, there will be a short worship service. Our hearts, minds, and doors are open to you!
BYOL Book Study
Bring your own lunch to the Wesley Foundation (Wednesdays 12:00 - 1:00) for a study on the book “Pastrix” by Nadia Bolz-Weber, starting January 22nd (books provided at no cost to the student). We will discuss what it means to be on the margins and what the gospel says about those of us who seem to be on the outside looking in.
Promise Study Group
The Promise Study Group will meet at 5:30pm on Thursdays to talk about what it means to be part of the LGBTQ+ community while also being Christian. We’ll discuss the interpretations that have been used to harm queer people as well as interpretations that indicate that Jesus would be open and affirming to all. The purpose of this study group is to provide a supportive and faith-nurturing environment to folks of all sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions.
